Vartavar is observed on the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord - 14 Sundays after Easter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The festival is celebrated on the streets of Yerevan where people use buckets, cups and even hoses to douse friends, family and complete strangers with water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The day was originally dedicated to the pagan goddess Astghik, the goddess of water, love, and fertility.
