In this instance, the crown is a symbol of martyrdom. An example is shown in the photo below, from last year's service at the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem.

Join us as we honor our St. James deacons with a traditional and unique commemoration, which will take place at the end of the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE6:30 PM | Musical Prelude7:00 PM | Candlelight Service (in English) Join us for an evening filled with prayer, music, and the light of our Lord.
