The landscape of the society in which we live is quickly changing due, in part, to changes in medicine and modern technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is raises important questions and affects our decisions about life, such as:
\n<\/span>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Who grants life?<\/span>
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Who decides when life begins and when it ends?
\n<\/span>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What does \u201cquality of life\u201d mean and who determines what is a \u201clife worth living?\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We will discuss these questions and more in the second year of our interactive \u201cReal Life. Real Issues.\u201d series.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will discuss these topics from a bioethics perspective and considering the faith and teachings of the Armenian Church. \u00a0The course will be led by our Pastor Fr. Arakel and Yn. Natasha Aljalian.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All sessions will begin at 7 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

CREATING LIFE<\/span><\/strong>
\nMONDAY, MARCH 9, 2020
\n<\/span><\/strong>What is life and who creates it? We will discuss the creation of life, from God\u2019s Creation of life, to modern day advancements in assisted reproduction, technology, and artificial intelligence. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

BEGINNING OF LIFE<\/span><\/strong>
\nMONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020
\n<\/span><\/strong>When does life begin? \u00a0Who decides? \u00a0We will discuss the beginning of life, research on early embryos, and termination of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

A \u201cLIFE WORTH LIVING\u201d<\/span><\/strong>
\nMONDAY, MARCH 23, 2020
\n<\/span><\/strong>What is meant by terms like \u201cquality of life,\u201d and \u201ca life worth living\u201d and who should decide? Who determines the value of life? \u00a0We will discuss genetic engineering and testing and life decisions in the context of illness, disabilities, disorders of consciousness, and suffering.<\/span><\/p>\n

END OF LIFE<\/span><\/strong>
\nMONDAY, MARCH 31, 2020
\n<\/span><\/strong>Who decides when and how life does, and should, end? We will discuss decisions at the end of life in the context of today\u2019s society.<\/span><\/p>\n

All are welcome to attend all or some of the sessions. <\/span><\/p>\n
