Since its opening day on September 24, 1967, thousands of people have come through the doors of our Charles Mosesian Cultural and Youth Center. Parishioners and community members of all ages have spent countless hours on the Keljik Hall and Mirak Hall floors in fellowship \u2013 playing sports, attending dances, weddings, banquets, the Bazaar and many other activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among them was lifelong parishioner James Hagop \"Jimmy\" Totovian, who passed away suddenly last year. Jimmy grew up at St. James, together with his brothers Vaughan and Mark. He was a dedicated ACYOA member, spending much of his time at St. James, forming friendships and impacting so many lives. As a lasting memorial to Jimmy, his family and friends have come together to coordinate fundraising efforts for this renovation, to replace the floor in Jim\u2019s memory.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the approval of the Pastor and Parish Council, on February 23rd, the Keljik Hall floor will be dedicated as the \u201cJames Hagop Totovian Court.\" The initial fundraising committee is co-chaired by Jim McDermott and Paul Pogharian, and committee members include Vaughan Totovian, Mark Totovian, and Gary Pogharian. Others to be added. <\/span><\/p>\n

CONTRIBUTE TO OUR RENOVATION PROJECT<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For over 50 years, the floors in Keljik and Mirak Halls have served us well. They have given us the opportunity to gather, serve, play, and grow in fellowship as a St. James Church Community. We invite all of our parishioners and friends to participate in this effort to build our new floor for our community to use and enjoy for the next 50 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

To all past ACYOA members and youth who have formed lifelong friendships and made unforgettable memories within these walls and on these floors, we call upon you! We invite you to be part of this effort and continue the legacy left to us, for the next generation of St. James youth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The total cost of renovations is approximately $300,000, of which $100,000 has already been pledged. All levels of donation are welcome and appreciated. Thank you for your generosity and your support.<\/span><\/p>\n

RENOVATION UPDATE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The flooring in both halls (the original floors from the building's construction in the 1960s) has been removed, and\u00a0structural reinforcements have been built to double the floor's load capacity.\u00a0The walls have been painted, and new floors are being installed this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
