It is the living symbol of our own life which is to be fulfilled in our resurrection from the dead with Christ. It is a time of renewed devotion \u2013 of prayer, fasting, and alms giving. It is a time of renewal of our minds, hearts and deeds in Christ and his teachings. It is the time, most of all, for our return to the great commandments \u2013 to love God and our neighbors. We invite and encourage the faithful to take this opportunity to renew themselves with Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What is different during Great Lent?<\/strong> The Altar curtains will close on Poon Paregentan, Sunday, February 14th. \u00a0They will remain closed throughout the Forty Days of Great Lent until they are opened on Palm Sunday. \u00a0The closing of the curtains and covering of the altars in dark-colored drapery symbolizes the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>WEEKLY LENTEN VIGIL SERVICES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>We invite parishioners to join us every Wednesday during Lent for our weekly Lenten Vigil Service. \u00a0Please see below for dates and more information.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Services will be livestreamed on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/stjameswatertown\">parish Facebook page.<\/a> Limited in-person attendance will be available, following all public health guidelines for our services.
