{"id":2363,"date":"2014-09-02T14:39:40","date_gmt":"2014-09-02T18:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stjameswatertown.org\/?page_id=2363"},"modified":"2014-10-04T09:23:21","modified_gmt":"2014-10-04T13:23:21","slug":"holy-matrimony","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stjameswatertown.org\/test\/worship\/sacraments\/holy-matrimony\/","title":{"rendered":"Holy Matrimony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3087\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stjameswatertown.org\/test\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Wedding_Banner1.jpg\" alt=\"Wedding\" width=\"770\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stjameswatertown.org\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Wedding_Banner1.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.stjameswatertown.org\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Wedding_Banner1-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Holy Matrimony is the sacrament by which two baptized Christians enter into a lifelong union by making vows before God and the Church.\u00a0 The couple expresses their mutual love and seeks God\u2019s blessing on their union, which is sealed by the Holy Eucharist of Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Our Lord Jesus Christ gave a very specific meaning and significance to marriage.\u00a0 Following the Old Testament Law, but going beyond its formal way of thinking, Jesus taught the uniqueness of human marriage as the most perfect natural expression of God\u2019s love for mankind and His own love for the Church.\u00a0 Marriage is the human expression of the creative and caring love of God; the perfect love of the Holy Trinity for the world.\u00a0 Through the Church\u2019s formal recognition of the couple\u2019s unity and its incorporation into the Body of Christ, the marriage becomes the image of the divine love of God.<\/p>\n<p>If human love imitates divine love, then marriage implies a belief that faith will play an important role in your relationship and in your family.\u00a0 This realization that we need Christ in every aspect of human life, means that a Christian couple cannot begin to live together and share each other\u2019s life in total unity spiritually, physically, intellectually, socially, or economically without His presence and power through the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>In the sacrament of marriage, a man and woman as individuals are given the possibility to become one spirit and one flesh in a way which human love alone cannot do.\u00a0 The Holy Spirit is given so that married couples have the power to fulfill the sacrament of Christian marriage and so that what is begun on earth does not \u201cpart in death\u201d but is fulfilled and continues perfectly in the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<p>A Christian marriage also suggests that the couple embraces the dedication and disciplines required in Christian marriage.\u00a0 This service affirms your commitment and belief that marriage is a lifelong covenant.\u00a0 The key to marriage is not trying to find the right person.\u00a0 It is trying to be the right person.\u00a0 A covenant relationship requires intimacy, openness and honesty, caring and sharing.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>WEDDINGS AT ST.
